The Cárdenas cinema-theater is set to open this December 23rd, at 8:30 p.m., on another anniversary of its reopening, Ulises Rodríguez Febles, vice president of the Provincial Council of the Performing Arts in Matanzas, told Radio 26.
The opening gala will cover its history, since it was founded in 1948, until today, with moments that pay tribute to some of the most significant moments, with dance, theater, circus and music shows, as well as to the cinema, in its double condition of being an institution that programs cinema and shows.
In this opening participate the sets of Teatro Icarón, El Mirón Cubano and its living sculptures, El Portazo with scenes paying tribute to the characters of the bufo of its staging CCPC La República Light; Spiral Dance and Circus America; and the Lyric Theater Voces de Cuba.
They will also intervene with their art Papalote and fragments of Divertimento Moderatto; the Obinni Oñi musical dance group and the Athens Brass Ensemble metal quintet, which will perform musical pieces from films of world cinema, considered in the program conceived by the Performing Arts for this event.
This gala will also remember the figure of Virgilio Piñera, playwright, poet and narrator, born in Cárdenas in 1912, whom we remember this year on the 40th anniversary of his death, according to Rodríguez Febles.
This show serves as a preamble to the 30 years of the creation of the Provincial Council of the Performing Arts, to be held in 2020, of which the Cárdenas cinema-theater is part after its reopening in 2005.
Completely renovated, with an effective technology for its important cultural work is the second institution that reopens its doors, after its restoration, after the opening in October of the Sauto Theater.
