The president of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) in Los Arabos, Michel Sosa Martínez, ensures that food production is progressing satisfactorily in this Matanzas territory.
“The cooperative and peasant sector fulfills its productive task although food, vegetables and pork do not reach the desired figures, unlike beef, the delivery of milk to the industry and for the consumption of the population, honey of bee, grains and other items that meet the planned levels. ”
According to Sosa Martínez, in the case of the vegetable harvest it is breached due to the heavy rains in the tomato harvest period that affected large tons of the product. When asked about the strategy to follow in the future, he added that “the boards of directors of the production units, together with the grassroots organizations, are strengthening those farmers who have the potential to plant sweet potatoes, cassava and other products, a measure that will make it possible to supply the current deficit. “
The purpose of the sector is to meet all the lines before December 31st, to meet the food needs of the people, said Sosa Martínez.
