Courses, virtual exhibitions and legitimizing actions of culture and art as enhancers of psychological well-being, will distinguish the day of fight against breast cancer scheduled at Matanzas Oncologycal Hospital from next Monday until the 23rd of Ocober.
Mildrey García Hernández, director of the institution, explained that the program arises in greeting to the World Day Against Breast Cancer, which is celebrated every October 19th, and will become an event to promote knowledge about the incidence of this tumor.
The project is the idea of the Amazonas de la Esperanza group, made up of mastectomized women who socially promote early diagnosis and support the initiative of various societies and scientific chairs, argued García Hernández.
Challenges and challenges in the treatment of oncological disease in the face of COVID-19 and vice versa are included among the new topics proposed by the event, from the vision and experience of various professionals of Public Health in Cuba.
A virtual space for conferences aimed at undergraduate students will constitute a safe alternative for the socialization of knowledge in the current epidemiological situation, as well as feedback through a group on the WhatsApp network, added the specialist.
Within the female population, the number of deaths from breast cancer increases each year, especially in underdeveloped countries, and is related to factors such as age, obesity, family history, use of contraceptive tablets and smoking, said the doctor.
