World premiere of Alejandro Falcón with Los Muñequitos de Matanzas.

The online world premiere of the DVD «Jazz with Guaguancó» by pianist Alejandro Falcón in tribute to the 67th anniversary of Los Muñequitos de Matanzas will take place this Tuesday, January 19th at eight o’clock in the evening.

The Clave channel, Facebook and Cuban music platforms will broadcast this concert as part of the sound richness of the 35th edition of the 2021 Jazz Plaza International Festival, co-produced by the Egrem and BisMusic record companies, as well as the National Center for Popular Music. In a digital interview with the prominent Matanzas musician, Falcón told Radio 26 that the show, with multiple hands, will feature guests and various themes. In this regard, he specified:

“We will play the song“ Matancero Soy ”; we invited María Victoria Rodríguez; I also incorporate a song by my father, David Falcón, performed by Mayito Rivera, accompanied by Los Muñequitos and my keyboard.

Likewise, the work of the Icaicc Sound Experimentation group has been highlighted for the 50th anniversary of its foundation. The inaugural concert of Jazz Plaza 2021 was in charge of Bobby Carcassés, National Music Prize winner and featured the Afrojazz and Cimafunk ensemble, the New Orleans bands The Soul Rebels, Big Chief Monk Voudreaux, Tank and the Bangas, all via digital thanks to Internet properties.

Other Cuban musicians who attend this edition are the tresero Pancho Amat and the pianist Roberto Fonseca, who will perform the closing concert of the festival scheduled for next Saturday, January 23rd, also broadcast on the Clave channel at night. In a note released by the Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Institute of Music and the National Center for Popular Music, it is reported that the upcoming Jazz Plaza 2022 is scheduled for its 36th edition between January 19th and 24th of next year .
