Actions of the Provincial Court in the transformation of the neighborhood.

With the main objective of influencing the transformation of the neighborhood on the basis of social welfare and people’s participation, the People’s Provincial Court (TPP) of Matanzas participated in the resocialization project aimed at reintegrating the convict into the community.

The action occupied areas of the demarcation La Violeta, in the popular council Pueblo Nuevo, where those controlled by the judge of execution provided some services free of charge, according to the TPP posted on its Facebook social network account.

The activity was possible, it is specified, thanks to the «fruitful alliance between the Court, social workers, art instructors of the José Martí project, Health, INDER, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, local authorities of Pueblo Nuevo and the community La Violeta and the Victoria Project, made up of sanctioned persons from the Peñas Altas area.»

All this «made possible a morning full of color, joy and the laughter of the little ones,» summarizes the publication, which highlights that the day was also dedicated to salute the 50th anniversary of the creation of the court system in Cuba.

In accordance with the date of constitution of this organ of justice, it must be said that with the revolutionary triumph of  January 1st 1959, a process of profound transformations in the administration of justice took place.

On July 23rd, 1973, Law 1250 on the Organization of the Judicial System was enacted, which responded to the need to unify the different jurisdictions that existed in Cuba, with the purpose of guaranteeing the uniform application of justice throughout the length and breadth of the country.

December 23rd, 1973 was chosen as the date for the foundation of the courts to commemorate the birthday, in 1841, of Major General Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz, who as a jurist served as Justice of the Peace in the capital during the year 1867.
