Collaboration project between CTC in Matanzas and French workers’ organization to be formalized.

At the IV International Workshop on Ergonomics, Safety and Occupational Health, co-sponsored by the Provincial Accommodation Company Guanima and the University of Matanzas, a collaboration project between the Cuban Workers’ Central in Matanzas and the French workers’ organization CGT will be made official.

The purpose of this agreement is to obtain experiences from both parties and to train union inspectors to watch over occupational safety and health, among other lines of common interest. This project will be financed by France.

The event, which will be held from November 28th to 30th, includes lectures, analysis of some 20 studies on the field in the Yumurian territory by French participants.

Yoel Almeda Barrios, Doctor of Science and professor at the University of Matanzas, explained the genesis of the event: «The event was an initiative of the Guanima Lodging Company. From the first moment they sought the support of the university and we have established strategic alliances, including joint projects, aimed at improving elements and conditions within that entity, heeding the call of the country’s leadership, which stimulates the participation of universities in the search for solutions in the business sector.»

The French workers will tour hotels, industries, sugarcane production units and other entities in order to cooperate with other local development initiatives.

These actions are part of the activities for the 85th anniversary of the creation of the CTC, in 1939, a journey that began last November 11th and lasts until January 28th, 2024, according to a press conference in which it was announced that Santiago de Cuba won the headquarters of the festivities, while Matanzas remained as a prominent province.

The workshop will close on November 30th with a ceremony at the José White Concert Hall in the city of Matanzas.
