Ministry of Public Health issues recommendations before the arrival of the Sahara dust cloud.

As has been reported, a cloud of dust from the Sahara will be passing over the country, which is usual at this time of the year and will cause a slight increase in the concentrations of particulate matter in the atmosphere, mainly from July 21st.

The effects that this event may cause in people are related to irritative symptoms in eyes, throat, nose and skin, as well as respiratory symptoms.

Measures to take to avoid the harmful effect of this phenomenon:

Avoid unnecessary exposure to this contamination especially the most vulnerable population groups: elderly people, pregnant women, children and patients with chronic respiratory diseases.

Drink plenty of fluids, wear cool clothes because the impact of this cloud inhibits rain formation processes and increases the temperature.

Patients with any previous condition of respiratory disease and allergy should be rigorous in complying with the preventive treatment indicated by their physician.

Use the face mask or nasal mask and eyeglasses as protective barriers.

In the presence of symptoms or aggravation of your usual disease, you should go to your family doctor who will guide the conduct to follow in each case.

Keep informed with the alerts issued by the Meteorological Institute.

Any additional measures will be duly communicated.
