Recent studies show a worldwide decrease in populations of bats. In this sense, the CUBABAT project “for the conservation of bats and their habitats” develops a strategy for the protection of these species in the province of Matanzas.
The province of Matanzas, the third in the nation in forest cover has suffered a total of 46 forest fires, 23 in the Zapata Swamp and the rest; Mainly in the northern region in areas of natural and artificial forests, but also in marsh spaces, belonging to the Majaguillar marsh.
Matanzas province enhances the sun and beach product with different activities which offer tourists not only the chance to enjoy the sea but also the nature along with its diversity and the richness of its flora and fauna.
