Rehabilitation of pipeline in Cuba’s industrial zone is progressing (+Photos)

The rehabilitation of the water supply pipeline that supplies the industrial zone and the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTE) in the Cuban province of Matanzas is progressing at a good pace after the replacement of pipes.

According to Daynier Cedeño, the investment director of the Water Resources Delegation in Matanzas, the replacement of approximately three kilometres of pipes with a diameter equivalent to 315 millimetres (mm) with others of 630 mm is one of the main tasks of the rehabilitation.

By replacing the pipelines, a greater water supply will be achieved, which will allow a greater sustainability of the precious liquid in the area, both for the state sector, mainly the CTE Antonio Guiteras and the industrial zone, as well as in the two existing population settlements in the area, he said.

Cedeño commented that the hydraulic works began on May 8th, which are progressing satisfactorily and are expected to be completed by July 26th, an arduous task but possible thanks to the support of workers from the Gabriel Valiente Contingent and the presence of new economic actors.

The investment director said that the rehabilitation of the pipeline is a support action that, together with the addition of the Campo Bello well with a capacity of 100 litres per second, will provide the region with a water service with greater pressure and abundance.

The work, with a total cost of 40 million pesos, is included in the broad investment programme drawn up by the Delegation for the current year, which also includes actions in the pipelines of the municipalities of Pedro Betancourt, Union de Reyes and improvements in the network of popular councils of the provincial capital, he said.
