Radio 26 – Matanzas, Cuba

Emisora provincial de Matanzas, Cuba, La Radio de tu Corazón

Teachers from Matanzas welcomed from their educational collaboration service.

A cordial welcome was offered at the Provincial Directorate of Education (DPE) to three teachers from Matanzas, members of the Cuban brigade of 62 teachers, who are collaborating in Honduras and have recently returned to the country after declaring several municipalities free of illiteracy in that Latin American nation.

In the context of the Educator’s Day, teachers Dayanis Díaz Poey, Marta Leliebre Fabier and Leyanis Castellanos, residents of the municipalities of Unión de Reyes, Jagüey Grande and Jovellanos, respectively, were welcomed by their colleagues and relatives.

After enjoying their well-deserved vacations, the Yumurina educators together with the other professionals from other provinces who are part of the brigade will return to their mission in that sister town of the region, where 123 Cuban pedagogues have been carrying out the literacy, re-foundation and academic training processes since November 2022 in very complex geographic conditions.

Welcoming the collaborators at the airport, Cira Piñeiro, First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education (Mined), acknowledged the humanist vocation of the delegation, materialized in the implementation of the methodology of the programs Yo sí puedo and Yo sí puedo seguir.

Piñeiro pointed out that while millions of dollars are allocated to sow terror and destruction, Cuban teachers bring the light of teaching, love and hope to disadvantaged and historically excluded people.

According to data provided by the DPE, Matanzas currently has 24 collaborators in the sector distributed in countries such as Bahamas, Honduras, Jamaica and South Africa, where they work in several scientific-pedagogical projects, the most important of which is literacy.

Despite the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the government of the United States on our country, education in the Greater of the Antilles continues to be an international reference because it takes to different parts of the world the best of Cuban pedagogy, a way of making known the reality and humanism of our social system.
