Leñadores de Las Tunas beat a faded Cocodrilos de Matanzas.

On Friday afternoon at the Julio Antonio Mella stadium in Las Tunas, the locals defeated Matanzas for the second consecutive time in the semifinal play-off of the 62nd National Baseball Series, a game that ended with a crushing score of 11-4.

Having a dream postseason, Tunero pitcher Keniel Ferraz, again in relief, won the victory, his third in this play off.

Keniel relieved the starter, left-hander Bravo Velázquez, who had allowed three runs, in the fifth inning. From then on, the Yumurinos only managed to score one more run.

The Leñadores’ pitching staff’s management of the pitching corps is a point of note, and how the low pitching remains practically impossible for the Yumurinos’ pitchers to dominate, as well as vital to preserve the Tunero undefeated in the play offs.

For Matanzas, the low productivity of the offense is worrying, which still has not awakened, in spite of the form they showed in the quarterfinals against Artemisa.

Now Matanzas and Las Tunas will have a transfer day and a rest day, to restart the actions next Monday 24th at 6:00 PM at the Victoria de Girón stadium.

The favoritism and the mood of the Leñadores and the urgency of the Cocodrilos, obliged to win two of the three corresponding games in their swamp, are worrying.
