Local community projects at the center of the III Mesoamerican and Caribbean Congress in Matanzas
The Third Mesoamerican and Caribbean Congress will be held in communities and heritage sites in Matanzas from July 28th to July 4th, in response to the boom of local projects linked to culture and traditions.
Maria Eugenia Romero, Cuba’s spokeswoman for that movement, detailed details of the significance of this event, which is attended by nearly a hundred Latin American delegates in addition to Cubans, finalists of the Local Initiatives Contest held last May.
«Since 2017 in Ecuador, Cuba participates in these congresses of living cultures. We went in 2019 to Argentina and last year to Peru. We will have in this Congress the attendance of representatives from Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Mexico, Ecuador, Uruguay, Honduras and Dominican Republic.
«For our part, we will have the presence of 30 delegates, belonging to the western, central and eastern regions. This work is carried out by UNEAC in conjunction with the Center for Exchange and Reference-Community Initiative (CIERIC).
«The open-air activities at the Plaza de la Vigía and the Parque de la Libertad will be the main meeting points for visitors, the population and theatrical groups, as well as amateur groups in different manifestations. The Sauto Theater (MN) will host plurinational shows.»
Matanzas will show the vocation of natural leaders in their eagerness to contribute to vulnerable communities. The projects located in the People’s Councils of Matanzas Oeste, Versalles, Pueblo Nuevo, Peñas Altas and Limonar will be the target of exchange, as well as the Castillo de San Severino, Farmacéutico and Palacio de Junco museums, among others.
In the circles of words, which are part of this conclave, will address issues such as the environment, the rescue of customs, traditions and histories, raciality, the rural universe, internal migrations, which transform the identity map of various spaces.
During intense days of work, the analysis of results will converge, where the most representative obstacles still persistent in the dissimilar societies appear; artistic creation, the dilemma of the third age and also the influence on children, adolescents and young people will be debated.
According to the organizers, among whom are the provincial director of Culture, Osbel Marrero and Ulises Rodriguez Febles, president of the Culture and Communication commission and director of the rural project Corazón Guamacaro Km 9 and the Casa de la Memoria Escénica, «the most valuable thing is that you learn to dialogue, to understand, to be multiple in conceptions, but also aspire to glimpse the richness of cultural fabrics of Latin America and the bowels of our origins.»
From June 28th to July 4th, #Matanzas will mirror the solidarity demonstration of dozens of bearers of the living cultures of the Mesoamerican and Caribbean region.
