Every August 26th we celebrate the  International Dengue Day, a timely initiative to fight together against this dangerous disease transmitted by the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

According to the Pan American Health Organization, approximately 500 million people are at risk of contracting dengue or other diseases such as Zika, Chicungunya and yellow fever due to the wide distribution of the vector throughout the Americas.

In the province of Matanzas, and in spite of the climatological situation corresponding to the present summer stage, the municipality of Pedro Betancourt exhibits favorable indicators in terms of vector control and prevention of this and other diseases. This was corroborated by Elain Torres Galindo, head of the department of Surveillance and Antivectorial Fight of this territory.

It is therefore urgent to carry out actions that contribute to undermine the dissemination of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito and, consequently, reduce the incidence of diseases caused by its bite.
