Popular Exercise Meteor 2023 Ends.

The province of Matanzas carried out this Sunday the actions related to the Popular Exercise Meteoro 2023, as part of the preparation for the risk of tropical cyclones and events of natural, technological and sanitary origin.

  The day began with a Rescue Exercise by the Red Cross and the Fire Brigade of the city’s Command No. 2. The manoeuvres simulated the collapse of a building after an earthquake.

Afterwards, there was a tour of the sanitation works in the neighbourhood of La Marina, which is constantly flooded by rain and flooding of the Yumurí river.

During the practical actions, Governor Mario Sabines Lorenzo, vice-president of the Provincial Defence Council, warned of the need to carry out these exercises more regularly.

The Meteoro 2023 People’s Exercise contributes to the preparation of management and command bodies, economic entities and the population to deal with disaster risks.
