Tropical Depression Four Develops: No Danger to Cuba.

The Institute of Meteorology reported that in the early hours of Thursday morning an area of low pressure located in the central Atlantic Ocean gained in organization, becoming tropical depression four of the current cyclonic season, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h and higher gusts.

According to Tropical Cyclone Advisory No. 1, the depression has a minimum central pressure of 1 007 hPa, and at six o’clock this morning its central region was estimated at 11 degrees north latitude and 41.4 degrees west longitude, approximately 1 980 km east of Barbados.

It is moving westward, with a translational speed of 19 km/h, according to the advisory.

The Institute of Meteorology warns that in the next 12 to 24 hours tropical depression four will continue to gain some more in organization and intensity as it begins to move northwestward, increasing its speed of translation over waters of the central Atlantic Ocean.

It does not represent danger for Cuba, it is only of interest for navigation, the Institute points out.

The next tropical cyclone warning for tropical depression four will be issued at 6 p.m. this Thursday.
