World Africa Day celebrated in Pedro Betancourt (+audio and photos).

To the rhythm of the folkloric groups Oggun Alaguardé and Addé Irawe, the people of Bolondrón celebrated World Africa Day.

According to Yanelis Pérez Souza, political coordinator of the Municipal Committee of the Party in the People’s Councils of Güira, Manuelito and Bolondrón, the «Néstor Ulloa» culture house, belonging to the latter territory, became the stage to extol our brotherhood and interrelation with the African people.

Likewise, at the «María Villar Buceta» cultural centre of the municipal capital, Mercedes Pérez Taylor, methodologist of intangible cultural heritage of the facility, led a discussion on African culture, its particularities and influences both on the island and in the locality.

Traditionally, the Greater Antilles makes the celebrations for World Africa Day its own, not only to ponder the achievements of the so-called cradle of humanity, the interest in peaceful cooperation, regional integration and solidarity between its states and the other countries of the world, but also to recognise the unbreakable bond between both regions twinned by history.
