Pelusín del Monte and Perez del Corcho, is blond as the maize fluff, has green eyes and pure heart and free as a wild animal of the Cuban fields.
In his face is drawn a big smile that still sounds picaresque like a rattlesnake. A revealing sign of the antics of the Guajirito with stopped ears, pronounced cheeks and enormous eyes like the stamp of the countryside.
It was born in 1956 of the pen of the Matanzas writer Dora Alonso and the hands of the designer Pepe Camejo. In the heart of the National Guiñol of Cuba the peasant puppet began to retrace the trails of the hand of his troop of friends.
His parents dressed him in guayabera, scarf and trousers with colors that evoke the Cuban flag. In a theatrical ensemble that put in scene the flora, the fauna and the dicharachos of the field in the vicissitudes of this cubanito of pure strain.
El Pelusín, by Pepe and Dora, came to the television in the sixties, with the endearing voice of Marta Falcón and the animation of Carucha Camejo for his debut in the program The Adventures of Pelusín del Monte.
Since then he has occupied the spaces of figure theater and children’s literature, with a presence increasingly rooted in popular culture.
Due to his permanence on the scene, despite some stages of silence, the researcher, teacher and playwright Freddy Artiles, made his doctoral thesis and with authorized opinion named him: Cuba’s National Puppet.
Rescued from the tempests of time and located in the place it deserves by artists such as Rubén Darío Salazar and Zenén Calero, guitar Guajirito is sixty years old and continues to dream of flying.

Thus, the patatuso pellet flies through the heart, with more force on March 21, International Puppet Day.
But the date is wrapped with the veil of coincidence when hosting the birth of Pepe Camejo in 1929 and the death of the national literature prize Dora Alonso in 2001. Two moments of life that appear to connect in a hug to The parents of Pelusín del Monte, the Cuban National Puppet.
The guajirito jipijapa hat full of cocuyos and tomeguines that continues hunting butterflies in the retablos, for the pride of the Cuban puppet theater.
