Cienfuegos receives from today and until next December 8th the Conservators and Historians of the Network of Offices of the ten heritage cities of Cuba, including the participation of Eusebio Leal. The network includes the cities of Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Sancti Spíritus, Remedios, Camagüey, Bayamo, Santiago de Cuba and Baracoa.
Among the most immediate tasks of the Office of the Curator of the City of Matanzas include the development of the strategy for conducting the process of diagnosis and inventory of the Historic Center of the City, the updating of the Tourism Plan and short-term projects, among which are the rescue of the La Campana cave and the Julio Sagebien Workshop School, a local in the process of being restored.
The Network of Offices of the Conservator and the Historian of the Patrimonial Cities of Cuba was created by agreement of the Council of State in 2013. The articulated work between these institutions of the country will result in extraordinary results for the nation and for the culture, since the accumulated wisdom in each of the entities separately, it will be based on a great common good.
The City Curator, Leonel Pérez Orozco, gave an interview to Radio 26 about the participation of Matanzas in the meeting.
What are the main issues that will be addressed during the work sessions in the coming days?
“The purpose of the workshop is to analyze the relationships that are established between the Offices of the Conservator and the Historian of the country with concertantes that are linked to the patrimonial rescue of our cities. The members of the Institute of Physical Planning (IPF), members of the heritage centers and other consulting organizations that have to do with urban development and the safeguarding of the values of the city will attend.
“We intend to agree with these representatives at a national level on the strategies to achieve an increasing interrelation, with more strength and decision between them and us. In the event we will analyze how the Offices in each territory have achieved a structure closely linked to these organisms, including IPF, as one of the most important in this process.
“If we take into account that they are responsible for the planning and reorganization of our cities, we realize that their functions and ours have a lot to do, since those are also among the responsibilities of the Conservatives and Historians in historic centers. urban areas and the Priority Areas for Conservation. “
How would you assess the relationships that exist between the Office of the Curator of the City of Matanzas and the provincial office of IPF?
“Today in Matanzas both institutions are integrated. We work on the basis of the consultation when adopting decisions related to the planning and management of the historic center, with the purpose of achieving the effective organization, restructuring and rehabilitation of the city. “
In this sense, the intervention of institutions such as CITMA, for example, is also very important, since there is an intention that Matanzas will become one of the first sustainable cities in the country …
“That’s right, our joint efforts have been directed towards this goal. It is good to highlight the important role played by each of the agencies and institutions, as well as the population in the complex process of restoration. The Office of the Conservative of Matanzas has had the systematic support of the Government and the Party, the Provincial Directorate of Heritage and the Office of the Historian, among others, all with full commitment in the essential work of returning the splendor to the City of Rivers and Bridges. “
Matanzas takes an important proposal to the meeting of the Network of Offices of the Conservator and the Historian. It is a pioneering initiative in the country related to the creation of a subsidiary or department of it in another heritage city of the province: Cárdenas. Why is the approval of this proposal necessary?
“The intention is to develop, in the long term, a collective strategy for the rescue and conservation of architectural, historical and patrimonial values with the creation of subsidiaries in the municipalities or territories of the province of Matanzas that require it.”
The personnel approved to assume the responsibility of management and patrimonial management in Cárdenas is multidisciplinary and in them a strong sense of identity is perceived towards this city located in the north of the province, two fundamental elements to achieve the rescue and preservation of the cultural riches of that territory…
