Under the title Raw reality, a photographic exhibition was inaugurated at the José Miguel González Jiménez art gallery in the municipality of Colón. This is a selection of 23 snapshots of two North American artists whose purpose is to denounce the environmental catastrophe that affects the area of the Ecuadorian Amazon, according to Roberto Capote, director of the institution for more than three decades.

“This is a project of the Americans Lowden Malik and Kaya Smashing, photographers who have been entrusted with visualizing the reality of the Amazon as a result of the intervention of the oil transnationals, such as Chevron (Texaco), the ecological problems caused by the oil spills. , all that tragedy that has caused severe environmental damage.

“It is a photographic exhibition sponsored by the Guayasamín Foundation that arrives in Cuba through Casa Guayasamín. This institution, belonging to the Office of the Historian of Havana, was kind enough to lend us this exhibition. “

As an antecedent of this initiative in the province, in 2014 Matanceros artists developed the project In full color, in coordination with specialists from the Republic of Ecuador, with the aim of spreading a message for the preservation of ecology.

Jesus Alberto Mederos, Dayron León Álvarez and Ahmed Michel González donated several works to institutions in that country as an expression of solidarity with people, especially children, affected by the environmental damage caused by the transnational oil company.

Other creators of the orb have spoken out against a problem that not only affects natural biodiversity, but also the health of the inhabitants of the South American region.

The occasion was propitious to make known the work of a young artist from the lens of the territory. His exhibition, Twilight, adorns the walls of the restored art gallery with more than a dozen paintings. As usual in the Colombian cultural center, these visual presentations were livened up by renowned creators of the province, who from the music and the theater delighted the participants in the inauguration.

“The Athens Brass Ensemble wind quintet, founded in 2014, and the Matanzas novelist and playwright Ulises Rodríguez Febles offered fragments and an exhaustive explanation of the work I am the king of the mambo, premiered last December during the celebrations for the centenary of the brilliant Matanzas musician Dámaso Pérez Prado. “

As a unique opportunity, Capote cataloged the presentations in Colón, an invitation not rejected by lovers of good art in the city named Almirante.
