The Lorenzo Padilla Foundation, based in France, made a donation of supplies to students of painting at the School of Plastic Arts of the city of Matanzas in the framework of the XIII Biennial of Havana.
The donation marked the beginning of a cultural exchange agreement between the Provincial Council of the Visual Arts and the French institution. The co-founder of the organization, David Padilla y Díaz, declared that it was an honor to help the future Matanzas artists.
The problem in the world is that art is often speculation and our foundation fights against it. We want to help future ambassadors of Matanzas culture with materials such as oil, canvases and different kits of paintings and watercolors.
” The grandson of the outstanding painter and collector Lorenzo Padilla stressed that the institution knows of the economic limitations suffered by the island as a result of the blockade and what influences the development of the arts.
The Lorenzo Padilla Foundation has the vocation to help Cuban artists and painters participate in the safeguarding of the pictorial heritage of Cuba.
Lorenzo Padilla donated to the Museum of Art of Matanzas many of his personal works and collections as 800 engravings and African art of great value.
