Anthony DeVincentis, a student at the American University of Wake Forest, gave a concert at the house of Vigía Editions, in the city of Matanzas, on Tuesday night, as part of the cultural exchange program that exists between the US academy and the Cuban institution. which is distinguished by the creation of craft books.
During 2018 Anthony visited Vigía for the first time and surprised the hosts with his animated voice at the proposals of a local troubadour; Now he returned to the city of rivers and bridges with seven classmates and Professor Linda Howe, willing to share his musical talent.
The classic Guajira Guantanamera, by Joseíto Fernández, and Imagine, by John Lennon, were included in the repertoire interpreted by DeVincentis, a student of Spanish and Psychology who thanked the warm welcome in Cuba for his performance.
A tour of the Vigia headquarters as well as the realization of creative exercises, allowed the students of Wake Forest to better understand the work done 34 years ago in the number one venue on Magdalena Street.
In addition to the exchanges at the headquarters of the publisher, the young visitors from last Saturday until today learned valuable buildings from the Historic Center of the City of Matanzas, a city of 325 years that stands out as the first modern of Cuba.
Agustina Ponce Valdés, director of Vigía, explained that the publisher maintains an active and valuable relationship with Professor Linda Howe, who has repeatedly participated as a translator in the label’s publications, and has also arrived in Matanzas with her students to showcase and promote culture.
