Virgilio Piñera was honored on August 2nd. He died 40 years ago this illustrious from Cárdenas who left such important works for our literature as The Island in weight, Electra Garrigó and Aire Frío.
In the Homage to the Cuban writer Colloquium, born in Cárdenas in 1912 and died in Havana in 1979, a visit to his grave was made in the cemetery of Cárdenas.
There actor Gilberto Subiaurt read fragments of the drama Two old panics and flowers were placed on his tombstone.
Critics and researchers Roberto Pérez León, Lincoln Capote, Omar Valiño and Alberto Abreu Arcia participated in the House of Scenic Memory, who spoke about the Virgilian work. The fifteenth piece of the Wood Sculpture Museum of the Cuban Dramaturgy, dedicated to Electra Garrigó, was also inaugurated. The piece is by Adam Rodríguez Falcón.
In the theater El Mirón Cubano Aire Frío, a choreographic piece by Liliam Padrón, was re-released, inspired by the homonymous work of Virgilio Piñera, thus closing the Matanzas tribute to one of his most illustrious writers.
