The Pharmaceutical Museum, National Monument, the only one of its kind in Cuba and the world, located in the city of Matanzas, received the Excellence Award granted by the Culture Union on the Island, for the specialized service it provides to Cubans and foreigners.
This French apothecary by Dr. Triolet was founded in 1882 and became a museum in 1964. It shows, among other original objects, its porcelain bottles, the books where the recipes were based and a very valuable collection of labels, as well as the dispensary table He won a bronze medal at the Paris Exhibition in 1900.
The cultural institution has several rooms that treasure antique furniture, medical instruments, medical prescription books that are widely consulted by students of the University of Medical Sciences and other sectors such as Education, together with work with the community.
Its director, Marcia Brito Fernández, expressed the pride she feels for the specialists who work in the museum, those who have made it possible to receive this recognition, since they dedicate their time daily to foreign and Cuban tourists, who are interested in the pieces that it protects this emblematic entity and constitutes one of the most valuable patrimonial jewels of the Athens of Cuba.
Marcia said that this establishment, which has transcended the borders of time, is today a must visit by the people of Matanzas or that is passing through this City of Bridges, in order to expand their knowledge about the history of the French apothecary of the doctor Triolet .
