With a voluntary work in the Basic Unit of Cooperative Production La Rosita, of this Matanzas territory, officially initiated the cold campaign 2019-2020 of various crops, in the province of Matanzas.
In this period, farmers will sow more than 19 thousand hectares, of which five thousand correspond to food such as sweet potatoes, malanga, plantains, cassava and potatoes, according to Ricardo Menéndez Chapelín, delegate of the Ministry of Agriculture in the West Cuban province
The area to be cultivated was increased, according to the manager, and the sowing and production plan for the year is forecast.
For this campaign the farmers have more than 180 cubic hectometers of water, 94 pivot machines, banks of aghamic and botanical seeds and two banana hardening centers with a capacity for 20 thousand positions.
Likewise, more than three thousand agricultural workers will be involved, so the payment systems and the entrance to the technical careers corresponding to agriculture will continue to be perfected.
Although there is a deficit with fertilizers, containers and energy carriers, agriculture will be prioritized for its role in food production.
