About to complete construction maintenance of Cine Cárdenas Theater.

The Cinema Theater Cárdenas, located in the city of the same name,  has been constructively maintained for two years, which is about to be completed, executed by the Non-Agricultural Cooperative Triple C.

The cultural installation was reopened by our Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz on September 25th, 2005, as part of the Battle of Ideas program. Its director, Darián Pérez Castillo, referred to the builders who work until late at night in order to complete the work, since it will host the political-cultural gala for the 61st anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution on December 27th.

On the other hand, on the 28th of this month the outstanding singer-songwriter will be presented with a concert also dedicated to the more than six decades of triumphs and victories of the Revolution and children’s films will be screened. During a tour of the different areas, the manager underlined the work that the builders of Triple C have done regarding the comfort of the dressing rooms and their decoration, very in tune with the preparation of the artists for their exit to the stage. The weather system was also repaired, the patio setting was improved and wine colored carpets were placed.

In this place occupied by the Cine Cárdenas Theater in 1894, political and cultural events were also taking place and on December 23rd, 1948, with more than two thousand seats, a show was presented at the height of the most important in the Cuban capital. At that time, Prima Ballerina Alicia Alonso gave her art to the people of Cárdenas on several occasions, while Cuban poet Nicolás Guillén and Spanish writer Gerónimo Gallego visited the theater hall, who gave keynote lectures.

Other relevant theatrical figures such as the Lyrical Aces, who performed operettas and zarzuelas, were also presented there.

With the triumph of the Revolution in 1959 the Cárdenas Theater passed to the provincial Cinema Company and has maintained the double status of theater and cinema, with the realization of social and cultural activities. On December 30, 1960, the movie History of the Revolution was screened for the first time in full theater.
