Sol Palmeras, the oldest mixed hotel in Cuba, received in the last hours the status of National Vanguard, a category deserved for the eleventh consecutive time, a unique record for facilities that in the Greater Antilles operate under the All-Inclusive system.
In this way, the center located in the main Cuban resort, accumulates thirteen recognitions of this type, the highest emulative award granted by the National Secretariat of the Cuban Trade Union Workers at the proposal of the unions.
In a ceremony held at the hotel, inaugurated on May 10th , 1990, union and administrative executives received the accrediting diploma from Zaid Díaz Méndez, member of the Municipal Bureau of the Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in Cárdenas, and Víctor Manuel Lemagne Sánchez, General Secretary of the National Union of Hospitality and Tourism Workers (SNTHT).
When intervening at the event, Lemagne Sánchez praised the work of the Sol Palmeras maintenance brigade, which he described as innovative due to the investment process that raised the benefits in one of the most reputable facilities in the famous Varadero resort.
In recent days, Francisco Camps, representative in Cuba of the international Meliá Hotels chain, congratulated the team of this hotel, because “for eleven consecutive years the Sol Palmeras hotel has achieved the status of National Vanguard. Congratulations to your team for a new recognition and the dedication and commitment with which they work every day for the well-being of their guests!
” Arnaldo Díaz Hiedra, general secretary of the union bureau, told Radio 26 that the expected victory is due especially to the dedication of the men and women of our group and to an administrative leadership that knows how to bring together, he said. Among the 52 hotels in Varadero in full shape, an outstanding facility is maintained for the quality of its service, which has become a brand, according to the opinion of renowned specialists.
Along with Sol Palmeras, two other hotels in the main sun and beach destination won the Vanguardia Nacional category: Royalton Hicacos, from Cubanacán, and Starfish Cuatro Palmas, from the Gran Caribe group.
