In greeting to the 60th anniversary of the Victory of Playa Girón, the organizing committee of the Varadero Marathon and the Provincial Directorate of Sports in Matanzas, summon the Second Home Walk Race this April 18th.
In favor of a healthy stay at home, against Covid-19 and the imperialist blockade, the activity will take place virtually on the social network Facebook as well as in person (blocks, streets, combined or sports facilities) according to defense council restrictions; It is precisely on this platform that participants will be able to share photos, criteria or videos during the preparation process.
All practitioners and those interested in physical activity can register for free by email firstname.lastname@example.org, their numbers will be published on the official page of the Varadero marathon in that network, which participants will be able to edit to make it and personalize it with their names.
As a consequence of the epidemiological situation in the country, participation will be individual, respecting the distance and the use of the mask, although the certification of teams (family members, work centers, older adults) is allowed.
Matanzas has managed to promote long-distance races in the territory by linking them with the promotion of health or historical events, as in this case, the now traditional race for victory began ten years ago in which the 13 municipalities of the province intervened.
Regarding the modality at home, José Ricardo Suarez Bueno, head of the Sports Programming and Organization department, recalled that the first edition of the event took place last year when the Varadero Marathon was suspended due to the beginning of the spread of the SARS-CoV- two.
“That career was a pioneer in our country and it also meant a great success because young university students, school workers and a large population in general were interested, people from 67 nations also joined, a fact that we will try to emulate this year. Creativity, the help of the media and other institutions has allowed us to publicize the race ».
At 8:30 am Cuban time, the event will begin but participants will be able to send videos about the activities they carried out throughout the day.
