The health intervention in the Matanzas province with the vaccine candidate Abdala officially began at clinic no. 4 of the Popular Naranjal Council, with the presence of political and governmental authorities and directors of Public Health of the territory.
In this first moment, those over 60 years of the municipalities of Matanzas, Cárdenas and Colón will be vaccinated with the first dose. On the fourth day, starting today, those between 40 and 59 years old and those between 19 and 39 years old will follow, at the end of the preceding group.
The second dose will begin on June 14th, with the same intervention period. The rest of the municipalities will be planned according to the epidemiological situation that each territory presents. In the short term, the province will vaccinate 70 percent of the population and there will be only those who are not fit for medical prescription and those under 19 years of age, this segment is not yet considered in prevention.
Among the advantages offered by the vaccine candidate Abdala is the decrease in viral load, serious affectations and consequently deaths, effects that will be observed in a period of time four to six months. Officially, the first vaccinated in the province of Matanzas was Rolando Mantilla, a self-employed worker who said he was calm and protected.
