The executive of the provincial branch of the Union of Cuban Historians (Unhic) approved the creation of the Antonio José Valdés Provincial Prize for History to recognize outstanding people in the work of research, dissemination and teaching of History, and for their contributions to the functioning and strengthening of the organization in the different spheres of its work.
The recognition is delivered every year on July 22nd, on the occasion of the commemoration of the anniversary of the founding of the Matanzas subsidiary of Unhic, explained the communicator of the entity Armando Castañeda Lozano.
This year, the provincial jury, constituted to evaluate the proposals of the base sections of the province, chaired by Professor Juana F. Ortiz Ricardo, awarded the Provincial Prize of History Antonio José Valdés 2021 to the Dr. in Pedagogical Sciences Luis Ernesto Martínez Gonzalez.
“Martínez González is a tenured professor at the University of Matanzas, where he has taught numerous undergraduate and graduate courses. He has also served as a lecturer and panelist and has completed an internationalist mission in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela ”.
He is a senior researcher and author or co-author of important research. He has participated in more than 150 national and international scientific events. His results have been socialized in various publications inside and outside the country. He has excellent results as a tutor of ten student scientific papers, nine master’s theses and seven doctorates.
For his outstanding educational and scientific pedagogical activity, he has received multiple awards and recognitions, as well as has been awarded in competitions.
