
For this day August 22nd, date of foundation of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, the program of celebrations prepared by the provincial committee of Uneac begins with a symbolic visit to founders and active members of the association, with the sanitary protocols required in the midst of the pandemic.

The Brene Theater Award will be officially awarded to the musician Raúl Valdés, and the Conde Alarcos Distinction to the actress María Laura Germán, in a ceremony that will take place at Teatro de Las Estaciones where the Pórtico yearbook, published by the affiliate, will also be presented .
At the headquarters of this association, a work by the plastic artist Rolando Estévez Jordán will be unveiled: “Muse of the 60th Anniversary of Uneac”, and in the José White concert hall, the Café Mezclao space will be held, led by Alfredo Zaldívar, and as a guest the troubadour Tony Ávila.
This August 22nd, the anniversary will also be celebrated with the Community Culture Project Fair All hands all, which will take place from the morning in La Libertad Park.
These activities are the continuation of a larger program, which covers the whole year, conceived to celebrate the 60th anniversary of an association that includes the Cuban artistic avant-garde and that “is more necessary than ever, in the midst of the circumstances that the country is experiencing, in which culture, authentic culture, and unity are vital ”.
