Poetry School to be Inaugurated in Matanzas.
During the 32nd International Book Fair in Matanzas, the territory’s Poetry School will be inaugurated tomorrow, March 7th, with the name of renowned writer Juan Luis Hernández Milián.
According to poet and professor Carlos Chacón Zaldívar, coordinator of the school, the inauguration will take place at the ART-YS Bar, located in the Circuito Ferial on Narváez Street, at 9:30 am, where the work of Hernández Milián will be remembered and guest poets will share their works with the attendees.
The Poetry School is an institution promoted by the International Poetry Movement and the Sur Cultural Project in Havana City. It will be made up of collaborators and full members of the workshops and groups that promote reading and writing in the city and the province.
«It takes the experience of the Pablo Neruda Project, based at the University of Matanzas for more than 25 years and expands its work to other provinces and nations of the South Project,» says Chacón Zaldívar.
«The decision to name it this way is a way of recognizing the work of poet Juan Luis Hernández Milián, for the artistic contributions of his lyric writing and his meritorious trajectory as a translator of Russian literature,» he added.
Similar institutions have been created in the country in other provinces such as Granma, Holguin and Pinar del Rio.
