The 15th Provincial Mask Exhibition is inaugurated.

The Cuban Association of Artisans and Artists in Matanzas welcomed on Tuesday afternoon the 103 unpublished works exhibited by more than 100 artists at the inauguration of the 15th Provincial Mask Exhibition.

Professionals and members of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), the Saíz Brothers Association (AHS), and students of Plastic Arts from the provincial schools also showed their creativity after the exhibition of their pieces at the cultural event, which is about to end on the second of June.

Originality accompanied the creation of each visual attraction showing the natural resources and materials used such as: leather, wood, paint and metal.

The plastic artist Alexis Plasencia, member of the admission and awards jury read out the list of winners.

The young Verónica Mejías Arencibia with the work «Al menos respiro» (At least I breathe) received the first prize.

«Oxygen», the title of the masks by Yadir Domínguez Pendón and Dariana Menéndez Rosales won second place.

The third prize went to Julio César Suárez with his work «Santísima Trinidad». Mention was also given to the duos of Juan Carlos Castillo Sosa and Claudia Castillo Suárez and Yolidaine Padrón Cruz and Armando Cao Batista.
