Unisoc 2024, a meeting point for learning towards development, is being organized.

A score of workshops, colloquiums, conferences and symposiums will distinguish the III International Scientific University-Society Congress (Unisoc) 2024, which, organized by the University of Matanzas (UM), will promote learning towards sustainable development from March 26th to 28th.

The Plaza America Convention Center, a prestigious institution in the tourist center of Varadero, will host the sessions of the event, which will include Honduras as guest of honor.

Professor Jesús López Martínez, president of the organizing committee, told the Cuban News Agency that the objectives of the congress will be to socialize good practices, offer exhibition spaces to different entities in the light of science, as well as to promote products and services.

In the exchanges, the strategies of the national program of economic and social development will be dealt with, and it is expected that the scientific results presented will have an impact on the progress of the country’s strategic sectors, López Martínez added.

Digital transformation of tourist destinations; socio-environmental innovation; capacity management for local development; internationalization of Higher Education; sustainable trade and heritage, will be some of the topics to be discussed at the event.

Electric power generation and transmission; oil extraction and production; sustainable agricultural development; challenges in sugar production and its derivatives; integrative health; active aging; physical activity, sports and human development will also be on the agenda.

As part of the Congress, on March the 27th and 28th, the Plaza America Convention Center will also host the II Varadero 2024 Business Fair, as a platform for the exchange between established companies and new economic actors.

In its II edition, held in 2022, Unisoc was attended by some 700 delegates from nations such as Ecuador, Italy, Mexico, Panama and Cuba, in person or online, interested in socializing experiences in line with the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
