Electrical Workers’ Day Celebrations in Matanzas.

The National Electrical Workers’ Day celebrations will reach a high point in the province of Matanzas when the activities conclude next Friday, January 16th, at a strategic project: the Guanábana II Photovoltaic Solar Park.

The National Day of the Electrical Worker will reach its peak in the province of Matanzas when the celebration activities for the anniversary conclude next Friday the 16th at a project as strategic as the Guanábana II Photovoltaic Solar Park.

The site will be the perfect opportunity to honor the men and women who have worked so efficiently and with such high-quality service, announced Yanlys Yanet Durán, general secretary of the Provincial Union of Energy and Mining Workers.

The union leader praised the quality and progress of the construction project in Guanábana, which is already more than 80 percent complete and is expected to be synchronized with the National Electric System by the end of January.

She added that the event will recognize the productive efforts of centers involved in restoring generation capacity, as well as those who helped restore electricity service in the eastern provinces affected by Hurricane Melissa at the end of October last year.

The day also includes meetings with prominent innovators and efficiency experts, to “celebrate the daily and altruistic performance of workers, as well as their strong commitment to the Revolution and Socialism, based on the premise of unity and active participation in the country’s economic development.”

Beginning on December 26th, the program of activities included meetings with retirees and young people, as well as educational activities that foster the exchange of experiences.

January 14th  was established as Electrical Workers’ Day in commemoration of Antonio Guiteras Holmes’s intervention in the then Cuban Electricity Company in 1936.
