It is vital to develop meetings like this one that allow us to delve into culinary traditions and recover knowledge, said Adalberto Venero Lemus, deputy minister of Tourism, regarding the XIII Varadero Gourmet 2023 International Festival.

The deputy minister praised the responsibility of the Palmares group in the task of rescuing the gastronomic cultural wealth that has been somewhat displaced over time by international standards, and to offer an increasing number of products and services that meet the needs of the people.

Jorge Luis Acosta Paula, general director of the Grupo extrahotelero Palmares, president of the organizing committee of the event, commented that the number of stands of the current edition exceeds the previous one, and the event has an important presence of non-state actors of the economy.

Highlighting the benefits of local food is one of the objectives of the event, which is committed to the implementation of science and innovation, in order to make better use of local resources and reduce dependence on imports.

David Herrera, Mexican participant in the event, praised the richness of the program, which offers valuable opportunities for exchange not only in the gastronomic field but also in services and culture in general.

The program of the event, planned until the 23rd, on Thursday includes lectures on the consumption and service of coffee in Cuba, the product Guayabita del Pinar, and a day of negotiations, presentation of suppliers, and will continue the competitive days.
