The good results of the province of Matanzas made it the venue of the national event for the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Basic Unit of Cooperative Production (UBPC), which took place on September 21st, 1993.
At the central ceremony held at the UBPC El Roque, a select group of the best productive bases of the country gathered to receive the 80th anniversary seal of the founding of the Cuba Trade Workers Union(CTC).
The general secretary of the National Union of Sugar Workers, Wilian Licourt, highlighted the significance of six lustrums of fighting for the efficiency of these structures, called, he insisted, to be much more effective in their management, especially in sugarcane production, in that indispensable linkage with the industry where sugarcane is produced.
With 37 tons of yield per hectare of sugar cane and a stable economic balance, the UBPC El Roque received its well-deserved award from the hands of the Provincial Committee of the Party and the CTC in Matanzas, an award that honors in a special way the collective for four consecutive years Vanguardia Nacional, the highest category of the Socialist Emulation.
Two special guests, the Heroes of Labor of the Republic of Cuba Reinaldo Castro Yebra and Tomás Torres Rivero, for the Sugar Workers Union, gave prestige to an act that had one of its high points in the unveiling of a plaque that perpetuates in El Roque the emergence of the UBPC three decades ago.
