«For a more dignified and equitable world».

With the aim of reflecting on the importance, respect and protection of the fundamental rights of people around the world, every December 10th we celebrate International Human Rights Day.

Promoted by the United Nations General Assembly since 1948, this initiative highlights inalienable rights such as life, liberty, education, health, personal security and work, among others, based on the dignity, equity and justice of human beings and regardless of their ethnic origin, gender, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status.

In a socio-political context where discrimination, gender violence, poverty, social exclusion, racism, xenophobia and other scourges predominate, aggravated by the pandemic, current political, military and religious conflicts, growing inequalities, climate change and the global financial crisis, encouraging education and raising public awareness of human rights is one of the greatest challenges facing our society.

That is why in 2023, 75 years after the proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, under the slogan Dignity, freedom and justice for all people, the General Assembly of the United Nations is promoting a campaign aimed at the achievement of such essential foundations.

In this regard, the achievement of Human Rights is a priority for our country that, from the articles of the Magna Carta and the new Family Code, mainly, shows the notorious work of the highest national leadership in pursuit of social justice and full dignity of the Cuban people, as professed by the Apostle centuries ago.

Undoubtedly, the International Human Rights Day is a date of great relevance for the world and a clear reminder of the need to protect our fundamental rights in order to build a fairer and more equitable world for all.
