A Plan to Meet Sugar Harvest Targets.

The CTC (Central Organization of Cuban Workers) leadership in Calimete and the sugar workers’ union must ensure the fulfillment of this plan, so that things go well in a province where production targets for the beloved grain have not been met for over a decade.

The optimization of the traditional sugar harvest support system by the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC) in Matanzas aims to ensure the efficient production of the 13,503 tons of raw sugar planned for the 2025-2026 harvest.

Twenty-three work collectives and several micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) are responsible for implementing the initiative to support the 14 sugarcane harvesting platoons, the three shifts at the sugar mill, and Ferroazúcar, a company that has become a regular practice in recent years. This program, led by the CTC and the unions, extends to all entities in Matanzas, based on the principle that the harvest should be a collective effort.

In this regard, the role of the Commerce and Gastronomy companies in providing cafeteria services was emphasized, as well as the importance of other sector-specific companies like Esazúcar, which handles food production through its facilities. It was also stressed that essential elements such as payment systems should not be overlooked.

The activities promote not only support for the farmers and the sale of their products at fairs, but also the implementation of a reciprocal recognition program after each task is completed.

“The important thing is to foster a personal commitment to achieve that goal. We will provide the rest through strong sponsorship,” said Osmar Ramírez Ramírez, general secretary of the CTC in this western region, while discussing the issue at the Secretariat’s monthly meeting.

In presenting the point, Secretariat member Yanet Díaz emphasized the urgent need to ensure the support system is matched by an effective response from the sugar workers, because “so many failures to meet targets lately are unacceptable… We expect a very positive response from the Jesús “Rabí” Sablón Moreno agro-industrial company, which is responsible for processing all the sugarcane allocated to it, as it is the only one that will be milling in this western province.”

Several speakers agreed that the CTC (Central Organization of Cuban Workers) in the municipality of Calimete, where the Rabí sugar mill is located, and the sugar workers’ union must ensure compliance with this political support plan, so that things go well in a province where production targets for the popular grain have been missed for over a decade.
