Cooling down at CTE Antonio Guiteras.

The estimated recovery time is around 72 hours. Yesterday, an initial estimate of three to four days was reported, and this remains a preliminary reference point.

The Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Power Plant is currently undergoing a natural boiler cooling process following a malfunction detected in the lower part of the equipment, reported its director, Rubén Campos Olmos.

Because the boiler is empty, it is not possible to use fans to force the cooling, which slows down the process.

Specialists will need to access the inside of the furnace to locate the exact point where the accumulated combustion residue descended. This residue, exiting at a very high temperature, damaged a tube and caused the technical issue.

In parallel with the cooling process, work is already underway on the external repair of the affected tube. An action plan is also being developed to take advantage of the intervention and address other components that may be damaged.

Based on experience with this type of malfunction, the estimated recovery time is around 72 hours; however, specialists clarify that only by accessing the damaged area can the full extent of the work and the final repair timeframe be precisely determined.

Yesterday’s news report initially reported an estimate of between three and four days, an interval that remains as a preliminary reference.
