Cultural and educational activities energize community spaces in Pedro Betancourt (+photos).

With the aim of enriching the municipality’s sociocultural life and promoting educational initiatives in diverse community settings, a diverse range of activities was held in Pedro Betancourt, bringing together cultural institutions, educational centers, and healthcare facilities.

The activities included exhibitions, workshops, discussions, awards ceremonies, and themed celebrations, aimed at different age groups and population segments.
A solo exhibition by young art enthusiast Lázaro Hernández was presented in the Leocadio Álvarez Hall of the María Villar Buceta Cultural Center, while specialists from the Enrique Pérez Triana art gallery held a discussion at the Dr. Pedro Figueroa Sandelis Nursing Home on the work of visual artist Leopoldo Romañach Guillén, with the goal of bringing the national pictorial heritage closer to older adults.
The IV Oralitura Poetic Improvisation Meeting in Havana 2025 was attended by journalist and writer Lianet Fundora Armas and poet and literary specialist Héctor Luis Alonso Carreño, who, representing the Matanzas region, participated in multiple exchange sessions with practitioners of oral poetry, the décima, and improvised verse from across the country.
Likewise, in the school field, the pioneer Isnay Herrera Gómez, belonging to the Augusto César Sandino primary school, earned second place in the provincial competition «El Minint y yo» (Minint and I). For its part, the Félix Varela Morales school hosted a local history workshop on the figure of the illustrious son of Bolondrón, Ángel Albístur, taught by Riquel Arnaldo Díaz Tejera, a literature specialist at the Néstor Ulloa cultural center in the district.
Likewise, as part of initiatives to promote healthy lifestyles and recreation, traditional games were revived in various town centers, while students and teachers of the «17 de Mayo» Educational Project celebrated International Fruit Day with activities that highlighted responsible consumption and nutritional education for younger generations.
