With the objective of guaranteeing efficient planning and data collection in the upcoming national population and housing census, the municipality of Pedro Betancourt hosted the presentation of a preparation seminar for social workers in charge of carrying out the Preliminary Registration in the community.

As explained by Sandra Torriente Peñalver, director of the Municipal Statistics and Information Office, the exercise will comprise three stages: the Preliminary Registration, the Census Test and the Census Survey, the implementation of which will optimize the management of information and contribute effectively to urban, rural and economic planning.

In this instance, the official highlighted the potential of the Preliminary Registration in the identification of heads of households, the counting of residents in each dwelling and the collection of statistical data on institutions and economic units, such as schools, pharmacies, hospitals and lodgings, essential aspects for the georeferencing of data and the enrichment of the information obtained.

In addition, Torriente Peñalver underscored the key role of digital tools and geolocation systems in the work of social workers, who will rely on specialized mobile applications and GPS technology to streamline tasks in the field, improve data accuracy and ensure a more efficient use of human and material resources.

Likewise, the director reaffirmed Pedro Betancourt’s commitment to the proper organization of the census process, urged the active and collaborative participation of the community and emphasized that each piece of data collected will allow a broader understanding of the population’s reality and will serve as a basis for a more equitable distribution of resources and the design of more functional public policies and strategies.
