Provincial Council to be set up in Matanzas.

On June 4th, the provincial Council of People’s Power in Matanzas will be constituted and the appointment of the mayors in the thirteen municipalities will be approved, according to information provided by the electoral authorities of the province.

After the election of the delegates to the Municipal Assemblies of People’s Power and of the deputies to the Parliament, the governors and vice governors in each Cuban province were elected by the representatives of the people.

Mario Felipe Sabines Lorenzo was ratified with more than 95 percent of valid votes for governor and Marieta Caridad Poey Zamora with 96 percent as deputy governor, who will take office for the new term.

Next Sunday, the José White Concert Hall will host the inauguration ceremony of Sabines and Poey and the constitution of the Council.
