Unión de Reyes thus begins a summer season with a planned program of recreational, cultural, and sports activities for all audiences, confirming that summer, in this Matanzas municipality, is lived with intensity, joy, and youth.
With the motto Summer: Always Young, the people of Unión welcome the summer season this Saturday with a day that brought together families, young people, and children in the town’s central promenade. From early hours, art took center stage with the staging of the «Compases de Sueños» project, directed by instructor Yairelys Valdés, an active member of the José Martí Art Instructors Brigade.
This cultural panorama was joined by a special presentation by the Teatro D’Sur group, a performing arts collective that delighted the audience with an educational program aimed at the little ones.
On the other hand, the Municipal Sports Department held tournaments and traditional games, encouraging physical activity and a competitive spirit in a healthy, recreational environment that attracted different age groups.
As part of the program, the Municipal Directorate of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) presented the organization’s 65th anniversary flag to the local Sports Directorate in recognition of its ongoing community work.The event also recognized the outstanding performance of the La Locomotora Unionense baseball team, which achieved a commendable participation in the recently concluded Provincial Baseball Series.
The cooperative and rural sector joined in the beginning of summer with the sale of agricultural products at a fair marked by the participation of most of the local productive centers. The Municipal Combatants Association organized a shooting range that allowed for the practice of this sport in a safe and controlled environment.
In the afternoon, the D’Nuevo Son group will perform in the Paseo square, a musical performance that promises to get attendees dancing with their catchy repertoire. The evening will close with the participation of the audiovisual project Fénix, for the enjoyment of teenagers and young adults.
