The third edition of the Varadero Josone Festival: Rumba, Jazz & Son will take place in Cuba’s main seaside resort and in the city of Matanzas from August 21st to 27th next.

Sponsored by the Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (EGREM) and the Cuban Ministries of Culture and Tourism, the event is dedicated on this occasion to Colombia as guest country.

Alain Pérez & La Orquesta, Alexander Abreu y Havana D’Primera, Elito Revé y Su Charangón, Pachito Alonso y sus Kini Kini, Los Van Van, Maykel Blanco y su Salsa Mayor, Orquesta Failde and Los Muñequitos de Matanzas are some of the more than 20 prestigious groups that will present their talent to locals and visitors.

As a novelty of the event, musician Issac Delgado, president of the Organizing Committee, in a press conference at the Casa de la Memoria Escénica in the city of Matanzas, highlighted that in addition to the usual venue of Josone Park, the Sauto Theater, a National Monument, will host several concerts during the first three days of the event.

The initiative is aimed at bringing the resort’s cultural options closer to the city center and celebrating the upcoming 330th anniversary of San Carlos and San Severino de Matanzas, declared a tourist destination since 2018.

The Varadero Josone Festival: Rumba, Jazz & Son constitutes a unique opportunity for the enjoyment of Cuban and international musical excellence linked to nature and heritage.
