Emisora provincial de Matanzas, Cuba, La Radio de tu Corazón

The Riberas Visual Arts Hall is conceived as a gift to this city, which is about to celebrate its 330th anniversary on October 12th, confirmed Antonio Perez Marrero, president of the Matanzas branch of the Cuban Association of Artisans and Artists (ACAA).

«The initiative is nothing more than the follow-up of the commitment to the city, its development, its economy, with the convening power to educate people about aesthetic values and tastes, and the idea of Frank Ortega, cultural promoter and member of the ACAA is about the participants being able to support and show the desire for creation inspired by the city,» he added.

With the rivers of Matanzas as the theme to be recreated, together with the organization of artisan artists, the Office of the City Curator, the Provincial Committee of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac) and the Provincial Council of Visual Arts are calling for participation in the Salon.

It is argued in the official call that the rivers are key geographical features for the history and economic and socio-cultural development of the city, so artists are offered the opportunity to show the vision they have of them.

«It is also a gift from the affiliate to the community to make an allegorical song to the event, with the recognition of our artists whose work goes through the material, with the use of resources, and the spiritual by expressing love for the city,» added Perez Marrero.

Works will be admitted in painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, installations and engraving, and members of the ACAA, the Uneac, the Hermanos Saiz Association, art school students and amateur artists in the country will be able to participate.

The pieces submitted to the Riberas Salon must be unpublished, with indispensable originality and artistic values for their admission; each author may submit up to two works, but only one may be chosen to participate in the exhibition; three prizes will be awarded and as many mentions as the jury considers.

From Monday, September 25th to Wednesday, October 4th, 2023, from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, the works will be received at the social house of the artisan-artists in Del Medio Street, between Jovellanos and Matanzas.

On October 11th, at 10:00 a.m., the inauguration of the  Riberas  Hall will take place at the headquarters of the ACAA branch and it will remain open to the public for the whole month.
