Annual Report of the Historical Archive and Projections for 2026.

The projections for 2026 include improving living and working conditions in the three Historical Archives in the region.

The Provincial Historical Archive conducted its first annual review under the leadership of its director, Yanet Perdomo Rodríguez, who assumed the position in March of the past year. The director described the period as positive, noting progress in institutional management and its connection with the research community.

During the year, working agreements were strengthened with the Antonio Guiteras Polytechnic Institute, the University of Matanzas, the Yoruba Association, and the Afro Art Project, alliances that broadened the Archive’s social and cultural reach. These initiatives reinforced the preservation and dissemination of documentary heritage.

The institution also hosted international researchers from Brazil, Spain, Portugal, and the United States, as well as an academic from Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan, reaffirming the international interest in the collections held by the Matanzas Historical Archive.

The review meeting was attended by representatives of the Communist Party of Cuba and the municipal union, who discussed the results, staff professional development, and short- and medium-term work plans with the staff.

Projects for 2026 include improving living and working conditions in the three Historical Archives in the region, along with prioritizing actions to strengthen computerization and digitization processes.

Furthermore, plans include promoting scientific research, training technicians and specialists, and strengthening the institution’s image through a more active communication system, with new forms of outreach and social and cultural ties with other entities.
