Cuban women and their invincible work.
Although Cuban women stand out every day in the eighth month of the year, their work stands out even more. We go back to August the 23rd, 1960, when Fidel Castro, together with Vilma Espín, founded the Cuban Women’s Federation.
Although Cuban women stand out every day in the eighth month of the year, their work stands out even more, and we go back to August the 23rd, 1960, when Fidel Castro, together with Vilma Espín, founded the Cuban Women’s Federation.
Since then, the date is used to distinguish women who play a leading role in different scenarios and show the greatness and will of their lineage.
And the fact is that every day they face obstacles, situations that become real challenges to continue standing, guide the family dynamics and continue with the responsibility of giving birth, for the second time, to their descendants.
For many more than doubles we can say that the days are endless, because in addition to professional work outside the home, when they get home they are faced with hours of work and invention in search of alternatives to feed, dress or even play with the little ones.
And the magic lies in their fortitude, in their resilience, in the certainty that they have been able to and will continue to defy whirlwinds in order to provide for their loved ones.
Nothing and nobody stops them, their strength comes from within and multiplies in the worst scenarios. But in each and every one of them they are and will always be, and even if they feel that their strength is exhausted, that their legs tremble, they sit, wait and remain convinced to give the extra and to be able to reaffirm the words of Martí when he said: «The campaigns of the peoples are only weak, when in them the heart of the woman is not enlisted, but when the woman trembles and helps, when the woman, timid and still of her natural, encourages and applauds, when the cultured and virtuous woman anoints the work with the honey of her affection – the work is invincible.»
