Jovellanos photovoltaic solar farm to tax energy in the first quarter of 2025 (+photos).

The installation will be linked to the SEN through two lines that will be connected to the 110 substation of Jovellanos and will provide energy not only to the municipality but also to the system during daylight hours.

The Jovellanos II photovoltaic solar park, located in La Luisa, should begin to contribute 21.87 MW to the National Electric Energy System (SEN) in the first quarter of 2025, according to engineer Daniel Rivas, from the Investment Base Business Unit of Empresa Eléctrica de Matanzas.

The facility will be linked to the SEN by two lines that will connect to the Jovellanos 110 substation and will provide power not only to the municipality, but also to the system during daylight hours.

The foundations for the containers are being laid.

«The park will have seven technological containers, which are inverters that convert the current captured by the solar panels from direct current to external current, which is how we know it in our homes,» explained the engineer.

These technological containers are located throughout the land and the specialists are currently immersed in the foundation process.

The Photovoltaic Solar Park has 42,588 panels that are of 560 W each, in an extension of 28 hectares.

«In addition, it has 16,380 piles, which are anchored there, buried in the ground so that the tables that will support the photovoltaic solar panels can be mounted on top of them».

The perimeter fencing and roads are being built and the resources to assemble the 1,638 tables and the solar panels are in the country.
These structures will also be installed in other territories such as Colón and Martí, with a capacity of 21 megawatts each. These 63 megawatts will be added to those already generated by the two photovoltaic parks in Cárdenas and would cover 24.4 percent of the territory’s demand during the daytime peak.

Cuba’s projection until 2028 is the installation of 92 photovoltaic solar parks with the capacity to generate 2,000 megawatts. Work is currently underway to receive 200 containers with the material necessary for the installation of the first 46 solar parks.
