Matanzas high school students intensify preparation for university entrance exams.
In the territory of Matanzas, the preparation process for twelfth grade students who will take the entrance exams to Higher Education for the 2024-2025 academic year is intensifying and has entered its final stage.
Olbeida Quintana Scull, the head of the Provincial Pre-University Department of the General Directorate of Education (DPE), told Radio 26 that in the territory of Matanzas, the process of preparation of 12th grade students who will take the entrance exams to Higher Education for the 2024-2025 academic year is intensifying and has entered its final stage.
Quintana scull pointed out that April is a decisive month and although the students enjoyed their teaching break last week, the student centers remained open and available to continue the training of those aspiring to university careers.
According to what she said, among the strategies applied this year to reinforce the knowledge of the students and improve the results of the process in comparison with previous years, stand out the systematic and partial verifications in order to identify cognitive errors, improvement actions of the teachers, follow-up of the learning trajectory of each student, attention to individual difficulties, as well as the teachers’ cloisters and parents’ meetings to ratify the responsibility of the school and the guiding teachers in the follow-up of the students’ attendance to the preparation spaces.
Reinforcing the most complex contents of each subject, taking into account what was evaluated in previous editions, is one of the methods used, said the person in charge of the pre-university level and confirmed that special attention was also given to the filling out of the application forms, a process that also had the support of teachers and family members.
In the province of Matanzas, of the 2,145 young people who concluded the twelfth grade in the present course, 122; mostly winners of contests, obtained pre-granting careers, 18 are in University Colleges; of them 12 in Journalism, while 1,528 students filled out ballots with the professions of their preference and opted for the entrance exams to Higher Education.
The tests will be held on May 7th, 10th and 14th for Mathematics, Spanish and History, respectively, according to information released by the Directorate of Entrance and Job Placement of the Ministry of Higher Education (MES).
