Committed to do its part for the two percent growth of the Cuban Gross Domestic Product (GDP) planned for this 2024, the important political process of presentation of the Economy and Budget Plan began in Matanzas.

Listening to and giving priority to the employees’ proposals represents one of the main objectives of the 3,774 assemblies of affiliates and workers, and of the 262 assemblies of representatives, Rogelio Leyva Castellanos, responsible for the sphere of economic affairs in the Secretariat of the Provincial Committee of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC), explained to Radio 26.

He reasoned on the convenience of organizing the meetings in such a way as to promote the presence and active participation of those in charge of transforming raw materials and providing services.

It is a question, he added, of generating a movement that brings together all the factors of the collectives, and choosing the best time and place to carry out the exchanges.

He reiterated the complexity of a year in which this process must favor the evaluation of all the internal reserves to be able to mobilize them in the increase of food production, exports, in the fulfillment of goods and services, and consequently of the labor and State income.

«Attending to these priorities will contribute to achieve the expected results, based on the potentialities and available resources, and thus raise productivity, efficiency and achieve quality,» said Leyva Castellanos.

He referred to the importance of presenting clear and precise reports, in order to ensure that the union leaders hold the administrations accountable for the payment systems, the application of Decree 87, the distribution of profits, the remuneration for high performance, the funds for moral and material stimulation and those destined for the acquisition, construction and repair of housing.

A no less important issue, he said, are the assurances for the participation of higher-level administrative staff, especially in sectors with the greatest impact, or those corresponding to the 21 companies that in Matanzas ended the 2023 fiscal year with more expenses than income.

Leyva Castellanos reiterated food production as one of the main priorities of the country, because it is not possible to have a greater presence of food in the country’s markets, based on more imports.

Key in the sales of merchandise, in the circulation of goods and in the rendering of services, the sector of Commerce, Gastronomy and Services begins the relevant stage, which will last until February.
